Christmas Greetings

Dear Friends in Christ,

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …” says one of the songs of the season.  And so it is as we look around us both in our homes, our community, the stores, etc.  Indeed it is “beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”  And it will perhaps look more like Christmas as we do our own decorating in our homes.

Have you ever thought about what those decorations mean?  To begin with, the evergreen tree reminds us not only of God’s eternity, but also of the eternal factor of His love.  His love was displayed when He created mankind and then followed through man’s history.  In just a few days we will celebrate the manifestation of His love – when He sent His Son for all mankind.

But His love did not end there – He “gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”  Therefore His love is for you and me everyday of our life too.  He gave us His Son so that we are enabled to live our lives in fellowship with Him – here and in eternity.

This is where the lights on the tree take on dimension – we, as Christians, live our faith in such a way as to let “our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to our Father who is in heaven.”

Yes, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  But may our prayer be that that is not only the external wrappings – but that God would grant each of us a merry, merry Christmas and a truly happy New Year in Him whose birth we are about to celebrate!

PEACE AND JOY in our New-born King,

Pastor, Joan and family
