Somebody Else … Who is it that keeps things running smoothly at Trinity – Town Wilson? Let us take a look and see …
He, or she, probably is not really rich, like some people think. They just give a larger portion of what they do have. Perhaps their gratitude to The Giver is a larger portion as well.
Maybe Somebody Else does not think of himself or herself as a teacher, elder, or whatever position they hold, but realize how vital all thing are to the kingdom. And so whether or not they have time – they do it.
Somebody Else cuts the grass, cleans the church, washes the Communion ware, etc. Most people think they do it because they like to do it. Actually, they are not always fond of what they are doing. But they reason, Jesus probably did not get a big kick out of washing feet either.
These are just a few of the jobs of Mr. and Mrs. Somebody Else. They also attend various meetings and pray a lot for their Pastor and the members as they worship and fellowship with each other. They really have their hands full making ends meet at the church and getting everything done.
I am sure you and I could take the pressure off them by helping with the load they carry – the load we give them. Every time we say “Somebody Else will do it,” that means Somebody Else has to do it, because it has to be done, and they are the ones who care enough to do it.
This year is a little more than half over. Are we at Trinity – Town Wilson and St. Thomas, Waldo accomplishing what we had hoped in 2010? Or are we waiting for Somebody Else to accomplish it for us?!?!?!
If you think the job will get done with or without your help, remember that God has in mind a special contribution for each of us to make – to His church and his kingdom. He Himself made the most important contribution ever – and He did not say: “Let Somebody Else do it.”
In Christ’s service,
Pastor Jabs
